Have loved everything that I've gotten from here. Grab a London Fog latte and a praline or two for a good start. Could use a few more lunch options, but for closing at 6, there's an acceptable selection. Nails the cafe tone and feels homey.
As a side note, I have lived in North Louisiana for most of my life and have managed to have little to no contact with the Duck Dynasty enterprise, and generally assume I don't fall in their target market because I don't hunt or wear camo on a daily basis (though I have many family members who do, I'm not hating). I didn't realize that this spot was associated with the Robertson family until my friend told me. Just mentioning because I really sort of expected sort of a Cracker Barrel mass-produced fake rustic motif with a few overpriced cookie and brownie options (just being brutally honest here!). So I was very pleasantly surprised and hope to return for some of the "food food" at lunchtime one day.
I can't remember having the feeling that I had stepped back in time like that before. Miss Kay herself was having her Bible Study with her friends right behind me. I did not realize that, until she came up and touched me on the shoulder to say hello. She very patiently took pictures with me, even talked my 14 year old grandson into a picture.
Miss Kay's is something special. The food is outstanding! The atmosphere is that of home. My grilled cheese sandwich was something that legends are made of. I am not all that into sweets, but her sugar cookies took me back to childhood, after eating one, I ended up buying all they had.
My recent visit was beyond refreshing. People were openly talking about God and quoting Scripture. Several people ran into long lost friends, running up and hugging each other.
Really delicious baked goods. They also serve a small lunch menu with home-made style fare.
Great service! The Chicken Pot Pie is excellent! I will be eating that again soon. Love the Pulled Pork sandwich too.
Man. I would come back to this place again and again. I visited with friends on an afternoon antiquing trip, during which we hoped to stumble upon some unique Christmas presents. We really just walked in to use the bathroom and make an obligatory purchase and move on, but as soon as I walked in, I was hooked. When you walk in from off the sidewalk, there's a charming covered outdoor seating area with cute rugs and unique but comfortable seating. It was a nice day, so everything was open to the outdoor air, and the fresh air combined with the smell of coffee and baked sweets was very pleasant. The decor was unique and modern-rustic, but not in a fake-looking way; my friend who came with me remarked that he wanted to try to reproduce some of the coffee tables inside. My friend ordered a tea latte and I had a cappuccino and a carmelita to split with our group. I didn't expect a lot of the coffee, but the barista (a young man, I didn't get his name, but it was on Saturday around 1 PM) did an excellent job, it was wonderfully smooth, not a bit bitter, and perfectly proportioned with a great layer of foam at the top. The carmelita was about 3x4x1 (inches), so perfect for sharing, and of course was delicious--it had plenty of salt to offset the extreme sweetness, which made for a great flavor, especially with the cappuccino. At $6 for my order, I was pleased with the value as well. The young people who took my order looked like they were in high school, but were sweet and polite as could be. By the way, I did accomplish my original goal in coming in, and the bathroom was spotless.
